What are the subscription levels?

Why does Clarity use subscriptions instead of billable hours?
Clients hate billable hours because it rewards inefficiency, and the legal budget can be wildly unpredictable. Our tiered subscription levels bring more certainty and transparency to the process. Flat-rate billing also encourages a more positive attorney-client relationship. If you are interested, you can learn more about why we started Clarity.
Where are your offices located?
We work wherever there is an internet connection. In our experience at global law firms, we found that almost all legal work is done via phone and e-mail, so we dispensed with physical offices. What clients care about is responsiveness, not whether a lawyer is working from a skyscraper, a hotel, or a well-equipped home office.
We maintain conference space in Washington, DC, where four of our attorneys currently reside.
Do your attorneys travel?
Yes. Although most work is done electronically these days, we are available for in-person events such as presentations, negotiations, and closings. As with any law firm, travel costs are borne by the client.
What kinds of services do you provide?
We focus on addressing legal needs quickly and efficiently. Our service offering is designed to help companies lock in their value and maximize their choices for financing or exits.
Is Clarity a complete replacement for other law firms?
No one knows all the law. It takes a very large law firm (200+ attorneys) to be "full-service," and even full-service firms need to work with other firms to understand issues like labor rules in Japan or building codes in Seattle.
Fortune500 companies typically employ in-house legal teams for day-to-day needs and go to full-service law firms for special needs. Our business model and robust service menu enables growth companies to segment their needs in the same manner.
How do I know I'm getting the best, most reliable work?
Quality is people, and our people are the best. Our attorneys bring experience from some of the best law firms in the world, and we hold ourselves to the same standard of diligence and responsiveness that you would expect from a traditional institution. Our business model is different, but the level of care that our clients receive is the same.
It looks like some of your attorneys are involved in creative pursuits. Does that mean they are working part-time?
We are able to recruit A-list attorneys because our left-brain/right-brain culture is relatively rare in the legal industry. Creativity and fresh perspectives are central to our identity.
When attorneys join us, we ask them how many hours a week they would work in an ideal world. Then we staff our projects in a way that can accommodate their preferences most of the time. When clients have pressing needs, we do whatever it takes. We don't recruit from law schools, so all of our attorneys are industry veterans who know how to work a 100-hour week.
How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb?
How many can you afford?
How do I know if Clarity would be right for me?
We are available by phone and e-mail for free preliminary meetings to discuss your individual situation, talk about your legal needs, and decide together whether Clarity would be a good choice for you. If you have specialized needs we cannot provide for you, we will do our best to put you in touch with someone we trust who will be able to help.
How do I get in touch with you?
Our individual contact information is available on our attorney profiles if there is someone in particular at Clarity you want to reach, or contact us through our website. E-mail is usually the best way to reach our attorneys, but we also communicate via phone, fax, web conferencing (via GoToMeeting screensharing or Skype), and more. In your initial e-mail to us, please do not include any confidential information.
